    The clay was extracted from the ground in winter to a depth of two meters. It was mixed in a  drum (broyeur à terre) driven by a horse, a donkey or a cow.

    When mixed it was carried to the brickyard by wheelbarrow.

    Water and sand were used to prevent the clay sticking to the moulds and to the yard.

Bricks and tiles were left to dry for at least three days before being piled up in the kiln, a brick construction which could hold between 30000 and 35000 bricks. One worker could make between I000 and 2000 bricks per day. The last brick kiln was extinguished in 1967.
